Privacy Policy — Crane
Effective date: October 3, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Crane: Quit Gambling & Betting (the “App”, “we”, “us” or “our”), an iPhone app developed and published by Osman Dogan (DGN Apps), handles your information. Crane is private by design: it has no account, no server, no advertising and no analytics.
1. The short version
We do not collect, store, sell or share any personal data. Everything you enter — your quit date, money figures, urges, check-ins, goals, plans and notes — is saved only on your iPhone. The App does not send your content to any server operated by us or by any third party.
2. Information stored on your device
- Your profile: the date and time of your last bet, the kinds of gambling and triggers you selected, your reasons for quitting, the weekly amount you used to bet, an optional estimate of past losses, your currency and your country for help lines.
- Trusted person (optional): a name and phone number you choose to add so you can call or text them from the App. They are used only to start a call or message on your device and are never transmitted by us.
- Urges, check-ins and slips: intensity ratings, triggers, mood, optional notes and amounts you choose to record.
- Goals, risk plans and path reflections: the goals, plans and reflections you type.
- Settings: reminder time, Face ID lock, discreet icon and similar choices.
This information never leaves your device through the App. If your iPhone is backed up by Apple (iCloud or a computer backup), that backup is handled by Apple under its own privacy policy.
3. Crane Shield (Safari content blocker)
Crane Shield is a Safari content blocker. It gives Safari a list of gambling domains to block; Safari applies the list itself. The App and the extension never see which websites you visit and never receive your browsing history. If you add your own domains to block, they are stored in an App Group container on your iPhone that only Crane and its extensions can read.
4. Home Screen widget
To show your progress, the App shares three values with its own widget through the same private App Group container: the date and time of your last bet, the weekly amount you used to bet, and your currency. No notes, check-ins, plans or reasons are shared with the widget.
5. Notifications
If you allow notifications, the App schedules them locally on your iPhone: an optional evening check-in, a note on each milestone, reminders for risk plans you create, and — only if you start a free trial — one reminder two days before it ends. No notification content or token is sent to us.
6. Face ID and passcode
If you turn on the lock, the App uses Apple’s Local Authentication framework. Biometric data is handled entirely by iOS; the App never receives or stores it.
7. Purchases
Crane Pro purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details, name or Apple Account. The App only learns, through StoreKit on your device, whether a purchase is active.
8. Links to help services
The App lists phone numbers and websites of independent helplines and self-exclusion schemes. Calling, texting or visiting them happens outside the App, and those services have their own privacy policies.
9. Information we do not collect
Crane does not require an account, email address or name. It does not collect contacts, photos, location, health records, financial account data, advertising identifiers or device identifiers. It contains no third-party SDKs, no advertising, no analytics and no crash-reporting service.
10. Deleting your data
You can erase everything at any time in Settings → Erase all data. Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side. Deleting the App also removes its data from your iPhone.
11. Children
Crane is intended for adults and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone.
12. If you are in crisis
Crane is a self-help tool, not a medical or emergency service. If you are thinking about harming yourself, please contact your local emergency number or a crisis line right away (for example 988 in the United States, Samaritans 116 123 in the UK and Ireland, TelefonSeelsorge 0800 111 0 111 in Germany, Línea de la Vida 800 911 2000 in Mexico). The App shows help lines for your country.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and its effective date.
