Frequently asked questions

How does the day counter work?

Your streak starts at the date and time of your last contact, which you choose during setup. You can change it any time in Settings → Your journey. The sky brightens gradually over 90 days.

What is Rescue?

Tap “I want to text them” on the Today screen for a 90-second guided pause: rate the urge, breathe, read the reasons you wrote, then choose something else to do — write an unsent letter, a 5-4-3-2-1 grounding exercise, or a 10-minute wait.

I slipped and made contact. What now?

It happens. Tap “I slipped and made contact” at the bottom of the Today screen. Your longest streak stays on record and a new day zero begins, with no judgment.

What happens to my unsent letters?

When you tap Release, the letter dissolves and is not saved anywhere. With Afterglow Pro you can instead seal a letter in the vault, where it is stored only on your iPhone (optionally behind Face ID).

What is free and what is Pro?

Free: your streak and sky, Rescue, unsent letters (write and release), daily check-ins, sharing and crisis resources. Afterglow Pro adds the full 30-day healing path (days 1–3 are free), Insights, the sealed letter vault, and Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets.

How do I start, restore or cancel my subscription?

Pro plans are on the paywall (Settings → Unlock Afterglow Pro). To restore a past purchase, tap Restore on the paywall or in Settings. To cancel, open iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Afterglow. We will also remind you two days before a free trial ends if you allow notifications.

How do I add the widget?

Touch and hold your Home Screen, tap Edit → Add Widget and search for Afterglow. Lock Screen widgets are available too. Widgets require Afterglow Pro.

Is my data private?

Yes. Afterglow has no account and sends nothing to a server. You can lock the App with Face ID in Settings, export your journal as a text file, or erase everything with “Start over”.

How do I change the language?

Afterglow follows your iPhone language: English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Português (Brasil), Italiano, Türkçe, 日本語, 한국어 and 简体中文.

I changed phones. Can I move my data?

Your data lives on your iPhone and in your iPhone backups. Restoring an iCloud or computer backup onto your new phone brings it with you. You can also export your journal as a text file from Settings.
